From Lukov With Love is a contemporary romance novel following the events of figure skater, Jasmine Santos. She has dedicated the last 15 years of her life to her professional figure skating career, except, she has yet to come out with a first place trophy, making her mark on the world. After recently splitting from her pairs partner and boyfriend, she finds herself going through a tough patch emotionally, not finding the passion in her skating anymore. Even while being surrounded by a big supportive family, she stills feels like she has more left to prove, especially with the absence of her father so early in her life.
Unexpectedly, she is asked to pair up with Ivan Lukov, her best-friend's brother, and the boy she's been loathing since she was young. She is immediately weary of the offer but what is there to lose? Ivan is a world and national title holder in figure skating, and is considered one of the best in her generation. Now, Jasmine has to make a decision, fill that hole in her skating career by pairing up with one of the best? Or spend the next year with her long-time enemy? It's time for her to make a choice that might change her figure skating career forever.

I personally loved this book. I read it under two days, not thinking much of it when I started reading it during a long car drive, but then getting sucked into the plot, having to know what happens next. The relationship between the two main characters is what I enjoyed the most, and also getting some exposure to the figure skating culture.
If you enjoy lighthearted romance books with a happy ending, I would recommend this book to you. I would say that this book is pretty cliche, and like every other romance book, but it's not. The unique background with ice skating being the main topic makes the book so much more interesting, and also has me searching the internet to find out what kind of turns and jumps they are referring to in the book.

This seem like an enemies to lovers trope. Its interesting to see how a sport can bring people together like this book, presumably, does.
ReplyDeleteHi Cali, nice blogpost. I typically stay away from romance plots because they generally are very cheesy but based on what you said this one might break that stereotype.
ReplyDeleteGreat review. I like how you rate the individual aspects of the book separately. I'm not a big fan of romance books so I probably won't read this book, but you did a really nice job explaining it and getting the reader interested.
ReplyDeleteHi Cali! This seems interesting and a fun book to read. I find that I either love or loathe romance books, ice skating sounds like a nice twist though, maybe I'd love it.
ReplyDeleteNice review, Cali! I like romance books and I've always found ice skating really interesting so I might check this book out!
